Overview

Located along Jalan Bangau 1 in Kepong Baru, Wan Tan Mi stands as a humble yet beloved Chinese noodle restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. This unassuming roadside stall captures the heart of authentic Chinese comfort food, specializing in traditional Wan Tan Mee alongside other local favorites like Beef Brisket Spinach Noodle and Curry Mee.

The true allure lies in their signature Wan Tan Mee—noodles tossed to perfection, topped with tender wantons and a flavorful soy-based sauce that speaks of time-honored recipes. Each plate is prepared carefully and individually, preserving a quality that reminds patrons of nostalgic, home-cooked meals. Nearby diners often savor their bowls while enjoying refreshing tong shui, such as the well-loved Red Bean Soup, which strikes a delicate balance between sweetness and texture without overwhelming the palate.

Wan Tan Mi's setting mirrors its deep roots in the local community; it thrives in a location that was once part of a morning market, giving it an authentic neighborhood vibe. While this adds charm and familiarity, customers have noted practical drawbacks such as limited rain shelter and occasional ambient odors from nearby drainage, factors that hint at the unpolished, street-food atmosphere.

The experience here moves at an unhurried pace—plates are crafted meticulously, inviting patrons to relax, chat, and immerse themselves in the convivial spirit of the stall. The service, often led personally by the owner or Madam Sui Kaw, adds a warm, personable touch that draws repeat visitors seeking both flavor and familiarity.

This venue targets those who appreciate genuine, traditional Chinese noodle dishes in a straightforward setting without the frills of modern eateries. For lovers of honest culinary simplicity and authentic street-hawker flavors, Wan Tan Mi offers a comforting retreat—a place where time slows, and the tastes of home persist.

Traditional wantan mee with nice tongshui(dessert) although not much selection but they operate been many years. Neighbourhood noodles stall, keep up the good work. The only bad is the rain coverage is limited and the smell of drainage due it was originally pasar (morning market) sometimes

Delicious wantan mee with nice tong shui (dessert aka red bean soup etc). Although the selection isn’t huge, but is tasty! The only downside is the limited rain shelter and occasionally the smell from the drainage, since it used to be part of the morning market.

Love the wantan mee here. Special mentioned to their curry chicken and mushroom chicken feet. They also have tong sui while you wait. Yes the wait does take some time as the process is slow as they make plate by plate. Enjoy the ambience and chit chat and tong sui while you wait.

It is one of the most underrated wanton noodle, selling at $4.50 per plate, the egg noodle is cooked al dente and coated with flavourful gravy. The chunky char siew is roasted by the stall owner himself, the set comes with generous serving of seasonal vegetables, usually baby kai lan. The 4 pcs of wanton are unlike other stalls, they are plump and tasty. Additional ingredient will be added crispy pork lard, serve upon request. Please be aware that the stall is closed on weekend and selected PH.
